Orvana Announces Results of Annual Shareholders' Meeting

TORONTO, Feb. 8, 2017 /CNW/ - Orvana Minerals Corp. (TSX:ORV) (the "Company" or "Orvana") announced today that, at its annual shareholders' meeting held on February 8, 2017, each of the five incumbent directors as well as one additional director proposed for election by the Company were elected as directors of the Company. The report on proxies provided by the Company's transfer agent indicated the following:

George Darling received 73,199,806 votes (representing 100.00% of votes cast); Alan Edwards received 73,207,114 votes (representing 99.97% of votes cast); James Gilbert received 73,197,114 votes (representing 99.96% of votes cast); Ed Guimaraes received 73,195,614 votes (representing 99.96% of votes cast); Sara Magner received 73,209,614 votes (representing 99.98% of votes cast); and Gordon Pridham received 73,197,614 votes (representing 99.96% of votes cast).

Mr. James Gilbert, Chief Executive Officer of Orvana, was re-appointed as chairman of the board of directors immediately after the Meeting. 

Mr. George Darling was nominated for election by the Company at Orvana's annual shareholders' meeting.  Mr. Darling, P.Eng., has over 30 years of experience in mine operations and engineering.  He has held senior positions at a variety of international mining consulting companies.  Mr. Darling is currently a Senior Mine Consultant and Regional Director at Hatch, a mining business and technical consulting company. 

"Mr. Darling is an excellent addition to the board of directors," said Mr. Gilbert.  "George's extensive background in underground mining operations, mine development and project management will make a valuable contribution to maximizing the value of the Company's assets."    

The Company also reports the re-appointment of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as the Company's independent auditor.
