August 18, 2025 – TheNewswire - Vancouver, British Columbia - Andina Copper Corporation (Andina) is pleased to announce that as preparations for field mobilization at the flagship Piuquenes and Cobrasco projects advance, the Company has commenced field assessment of the Mantau copper-gold target in the Antofagasta region of northern Chile. Mantau is located in a prolific copper district and adjoins tenements hosting Marimaca Copper’s (TSXV:MARI) recent Pampa Medina Norte sulphide copper discovery1.
Mantau Cu-Au Project Highlights:
-
Multiple historical copper workings occur within a 4,500ha tenement package in the low-altitude Coastal Cordillera of Chile (refer Figure 1), one of the world’s premier mining jurisdictions
-
Potential to host stratabound (Manto) and Iron Oxide Copper Gold (IOCG) style copper and gold mineralization
-
Limited previous surface rock chip sampling around historical workings has returned grades up to 28.6% copper and 5.91g/t gold
-
Close proximity to Marimaca Copper’s (TSX-V:MARI) recent Pampa Medina sulphide copper discovery and the Pias target (refer Figure 1).
-
Other noteworthy projects in the near vicinity include Marimaca Copper’s MOD Deposit2 (1mt contained Cu ~ 20km SW) and Antofagasta PLCs Cachorro discovery (~250Mt @ 1.26% Cu, 4g/t Ag ~20km E)3
-
Excellent access to infrastructure with multiple operating copper mines and development projects nearby.
Work Program Summary:
-
Andina has initiated a comprehensive review of historical work, and currently has an exploration team on site conducting reconnaissance mapping and rock chip sampling of historical occurrences and alteration zones defined in ASTER spectral imagery.
-
A detailed geochemical orientation survey to determine optimized future sampling techniques and assay methodology is also being prepared, in addition to drone-based aerial photogrammetry over the extent of the project concessions.
-
Detailed litho-geochemical sampling of all rock types will also be completed to establish background values and pathfinder geochemistry.
-
Evaluation of cost-effective geophysical techniques applicable to the mineralization styles and geology of Mantau and the surrounding district is underway, including detailed (close-spaced) magnetics survey, conducted either via conventional ground-based or aerial (drone) based platforms. Other techniques such as Induced Polarisation (IP) and Audio-Magnetotelluric (AMT) which have been instrumental in the delineation of deep sulphide mineralization in the adjoining Pias and Pampa Medina targets will also be assessed for a follow-up stage of geophysical data acquisition.

President & CEO Joseph van den Elsen commented: “As we continue to advance preparations for the 2025/26 field season at Piuquenes and recommencement of drilling at Cobrasco, we are very excited to commence initial assessment of the Mantau Cu-Au Target located in the Tier 1 address of Antofagasta, Chile. Our work will build upon the data from limited historical exploration utilizing the latest technologies to rapidly advance our understanding of the projects’ potential. Mantau is well located amongst numerous copper mines and recent discoveries and is an exciting, highly prospective third leg within the portfolio. This is an exciting time to be a shareholder of Andina Copper as we enter a period of intensive field activities and associated news flow and also pursue a dual listing on the TSX-V and ASX”.
