Lion One Metals Provides Update on Fiji Cyclone

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Feb. 22, 2016) - Lion One Metals Limited (TSX VENTURE:LIO)(OTCQX:LOMLF)(ASX:LLO)(FRANKFURT:LY1), ("Lion One" or the "Company") announces that a 30-day state of emergency was declared in the nation of Fiji over the weekend as Cyclone Winston, a Category 5 tropical cyclone, made windfall on the island of Viti Levu Saturday evening (Fiji time). The Company operates on the island of Viti Levu and reports that the safety of its staff and personnel living in the Nadi area has been confirmed. The Company reports that damage at its head office compound located 1 km from the Nadi International Airport was limited to a damaged security shed, with no damage to report from its camp facilities at Tuvatu, the Company's gold mining project located 17 km away in the upper reaches of the Sabeto Valley.

A nation-wide curfew was lifted on Monday morning (Fiji time). Lion One personnel visited the Tuvatu site and reported that access to the site was blocked by debris on the road approximately 1 km from the Tuvatu camp and that site cleanup will commence on Tuesday to remove widespread debris and tree branches over the property. Heavy rains have subsided and flood warnings have been cancelled in lower lying areas.

Cyclone Winston is the largest cyclone on record to ever make windfall in Fiji and has also become the strongest cyclone on record to ever make windfall in the Southern Hemisphere. Gusts of wind exceeding 300 kmh were reported on Saturday evening (Fiji time) as the southern eyewall of the storm passed over north-western Viti Levu. Power, water, and communications services have been cut across Viti Levu but the Government of Fiji has responded quickly to clear roads of debris and fallen power lines. The full extent of damage in Fiji has yet to be fully assessed. The Company is preparing a brief report for the Inspector of Mines and will provide further updates as events unfold.
