Rugby Mining Provides Exploration Update on Otways Gold Project in Pilbara Region

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 08, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rugby Mining Limited (“Rugby” or the “Company”) (TSX-V:RUG) is pleased to announce that regional sampling is underway at its Otways Gold Project (“Otways”) in the Pilbara, Western Australia, with results from the first area sampled now available.

Otways is located within the Pilbara region, an area well known for its gold potential and of reported “Witwatersrand-style” gold bearing conglomerate deposits recently announced by Novo Resources, De Grey Mining and Haoma Mining NL.

The program underway includes LAG sampling, a regional sampling technique to analyze low levels of gold in remnant minerals within soils. It is widely used in the arid terrain of Western Australia to generate target areas for follow up work.

To date, 56 LAG samples have been collected at 500 metre X 500 metre spaced intervals over an area of 11 square kilometres. Assay results range from <1ppb gold to a maximum of 185ppb gold.  Two separate anomalies are defined, the larger of which covers an area of approximately 3 square kilometres (Figure 1). The anomalies are now being evaluated technically.

Two additional areas of historical gold geochemistry (Figure 1) are currently being sampled utilizing the LAG sampling technique.

Concurrently, our technical team will search for outcropping conglomerates and those potentially buried. Conglomerates have been mapped historically by government geologists within two kilometres of our licence boundary. Our focus will be the cross hachured area in red in Figure1. Metal detecting for gold nuggets will form part of the sampling methodology.

Rugby’s CEO, Paul Joyce stated, “The exploration process at Otways is still in its early days. We will continue through November with ground work including the prospecting, LAG sampling and metal detecting.”

Otways comprises two contiguous exploration licences covering 134 square kilometres. Rugby owns 100% interest, subject to a 2% NSR to the vendors.

All LAG samples were assayed by Genalysis Laboratory Services in Perth, Western Australia. Samples were prepared using Genalysis’ SP01 method (drying, crushing, and pulverizing), and assaying for gold and 52 multi-elements by Genalysis’ AR10/MS52 technique. Genalysis is an independent and ISO-9001:2000 certified laboratory with no association to Rugby. Bryce Roxburgh, Rugby’s Chairman, geologist and a “qualified person” (“QP”) within the definition of that term in National Instrument 43-101, Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects, has verified the technical information that forms the basis for this news release.
